1. Problem description

Without og:title, og:description and og:image, shares show a random image or the homepage branding. That leak of control also affects some AI citation cards that reuse OG data.

2. Most common causes

  • The SEO plugin’s social tab was never filled.
  • Absolute og:image URLs are missing or return 404.
  • The SPA does not SSR Open Graph tags.

3. How to fix it

  1. Add og:title, og:description, og:url, og:type and og:image (1200×630 is a safe size).
  2. Use absolute HTTPS image URLs.
  3. Validate with LinkedIn Post Inspector or Facebook Sharing Debugger.
