Internal linking

Internal links spread PageRank-like attention and help crawlers discover related URLs.

Pass condition in our engine: The page has at least 5 internal links.

1. Problem description

A page with one header link and no in-body links is a dead end. Thin related-posts widgets with noindex targets do not count as useful structure. We count unique internal hrefs on the tested URL (a full crawl averages across the site).

2. Most common causes

  • Long-form articles with zero contextual links.
  • JavaScript click handlers instead of <a href>.
  • Everything funnels to the homepage only.

3. How to fix it

  1. Link from the body to 5+ relevant internal URLs with descriptive anchors.
  2. Add breadcrumbs and a real nav, not only a hamburger that is not in HTML.
  3. Use server-rendered <a> tags; we do not execute JavaScript.

Test this check
