Language on every page
Templates should declare lang consistently so a crawl does not find mixed missing attributes.
Pass condition in our engine: This page has html lang. Site-wide coverage needs a full crawl.
1. Problem description
On a full report we compare all crawled pages. On one URL we verify that this document declares lang. A marketing microsite that reused an old template without lang will fail here even if the homepage is fine.
2. Most common causes
- One locale template missing the attribute.
- Iframe-injected pages without a full HTML document.
3. How to fix it
- Fix the shared layout so every HTML response includes lang.
- Run a full report to find stragglers.
Test this check
We fetch only this URL (plus robots.txt / llms.txt at the domain root when the check needs them). We do not crawl the rest of the site like a full report.
Scoring rules for the full site crawl are documented in methodology. Want every category at once? Generate a free report.
