HTTP/2 or HTTP/3 (Performance)
HTTP/2/3 multiplexes many assets on one connection. HTTP/1.1 still pays a connection-per-file tax.
Pass condition in our engine: Alt-Svc or Via advertises h2 or h3, or the protocol is not advertised (unknown is not a fail).
This Performance check is part of SEO-GEO scoring 2.2.1, last updated 2026-09-18. About 90 percent of the evaluation runs on the HTML we crawl, so you can verify the same pass condition with a free report.
1. Problem description
We read Alt-Svc and Via. If the server does not advertise h2/h3 we cannot prove the protocol, so this check is informational unless HTTP/1.1 is explicit.
2. Most common causes
- Legacy origin without TLS ALPN h2.
- A misconfigured load balancer.
3. How to fix it
- Enable HTTP/2 on the CDN (almost always default).
- Turn on HTTP/3 / QUIC when the CDN supports it.
Test this check
We fetch only this URL (plus robots.txt / llms.txt at the domain root when the check needs them). We do not crawl the rest of the site like a full report.
Scoring rules for the full site crawl are documented in methodology. Want every category at once? Generate a free report.
